Questions people ask before working with us

Short answers to what small businesses ask us before a website, chatbot or CRM project. If yours isn't here, ask Chalu, or one of us.

The questions people ask us most, more or less in their words.

Pricing and payment

How much does a project cost?

It depends on what we're building, so we quote after a free 30-minute call, in a written plan within two working days. That fixed quote is what you pay, unless you ask for something bigger.

Talk to us
Why don't you show prices on the website?

Because two websites can mean very different amounts of work. The calculator shows what a fix is worth to you, so you can check any quote against it.

How do you keep it affordable?

Mostly by not charging for what you don't need, so the first version is the smallest one that works. Hosting, AI usage and subscriptions go on your own accounts at the provider's price.

Why we keep it affordable
How do payments work?

Small projects are half to start and half at launch, by bank transfer or UPI. Bigger ones are 40% to start, 30% at the approved design or first working version, and 30% at launch.

How projects run

What happens on the first call?

You tell us how the business runs and where the hours go, and nothing's signed. Within two working days a written plan follows: what we'd build, how long yours would take and a fixed quote.

How long does a project take?

It depends on what the business is trying to achieve, so there's no number here. The written plan gives the time for yours, and we hold to it.

Get a written plan
Who will actually work on my project?

One person on the team leads your project from the first call to launch, and that's who you message. Designers, developers and automation specialists join for the parts that need them.

About the studio
How will I know how it's going?

Every week you get a short recorded demo to watch whenever suits you, with no meetings unless you want one. Questions in between get a reply within one working day.

How a project runs
What if I want changes along the way?

Ask, and it usually just gets done, since design revisions aren't rationed. If a change would move the time or the quote, we agree it with you in writing before anyone starts.

How a project runs
What do you need from me?

Half an hour for the call, then a few minutes a week to watch the demo and reply. We'll also need logins to the tools we're connecting, and we help with the writing.

How a project runs: a call, a written plan with a fixed quote, a short demo every week so nothing comes as a surprise, the hand-over, and care afterwards if you'd like it.

Ownership and running costs

Who owns the website, code and accounts?

You do, once it's paid for: code, designs, content and data. The domain, hosting and tool accounts are in your name from day one, so if you leave there's nothing to hand back.

Websites for startups
Are there running costs after launch?

Yes, a few, and you'd have them whoever built it: the domain, hosting, and any AI or software subscriptions. They go on your own accounts at the provider's price, and we add nothing on top.

Working together

Do you work with clients outside India?

Yes. Calls are booked at an hour that suits you, and you pay by bank transfer or an international payment link in USD, GBP, EUR, AED or SGD.

Talk to us
We're a small startup. Is this for us?

Yes, startups and small businesses are why we started Swachal. We start with the smallest version that works, and a one-person business can have smaller milestones and no big deposit.

Websites for startups
Can you work with my existing website or tools?

Yes, and often that's the better job. An assistant can sit on the site you already have, and automations run on the sheets and CRM where your data already is.

Automation for small businesses
Will you tell me if I don't need you?

Yes. If the calculator or the call shows the problem is too small to be worth paying for, we say not yet and list the free fixes you can do yourself.

After launch

What happens after launch?

The first 30 days of fixes are free. After that, optional monthly care covers hosting, backups, security updates, small changes, automation repairs and tuning the assistant, and you can stop it any time.

Talk to us
What if I need to cancel?

Cancel before work starts and the deposit comes back in full. Mid-project, you pay for the work done so far and keep everything built up to then, code included.

Roughly what the first year after launch looks like. The first 30 days of fixes are on us. After that, care is monthly, and you can stop it whenever you like.

Data, privacy and Chalu

How do you handle our data?

We collect only what the job needs, keep it in accounts you own, and never sell or reuse it. An assistant's knowledge base, prompts and conversations are yours and never train anything else.

How we handle your data
Does Chalu use ChatGPT or another AI API?

No, Chalu is a small engine we wrote ourselves, and he runs inside your browser. The assistants we build for clients can use a language model when the job needs one.

AI assistants for your business

Choosing what you need

Do I need an assistant, automation or a website?

Whichever costs you most, and the calculator puts them in order. Questions all day on WhatsApp mean an assistant, hours copying enquiries mean automation, and nobody finding you means the website.

Try the calculator
What's the difference between an AI assistant and automation?

An assistant is what a customer talks to. An automation is what happens afterwards without anyone touching it, like a follow-up going out when a customer goes quiet.

Automation for small businesses
Do you also do social media, ads or logos?

No. We build websites, AI assistants and customised CRMs, plus automation and apps, and we'll point you to people who do social media, ads or logos properly.

What we do and don't do
Do you build mobile apps?

Yes, Android and iPhone apps, and web apps like customer portals and dashboards. They're new for us, with no app portfolio yet, and often a fast website that works like an app does the job.

Mobile and web apps
Do you build CRMs?

Yes, for teams whose leads live in a spreadsheet and somebody's memory, set up with the stages they already use. Enquiries from the website and WhatsApp go in, each with an owner and a reminder.

Customised CRM
Why a custom CRM instead of a subscription?

Subscriptions bill per salesperson every month, but a custom CRM is paid for once and hosted on your own account at the provider's price. One or two people with a simple pipeline should probably subscribe.

Paying once for a CRM
Can you guarantee more sales or a top spot on Google?

No, and nobody can, since Google and your market aren't ours to control. What we put in writing is what we'll build, for a fixed quote, and anything agreed that isn't delivered gets fixed free.
